National e-Infrastructure for Aging Research (NEAR)
Karolinska Institutet and five other Swedish universities are building a National e-Infrastructure for Aging Research (NEAR) with the ultimate aim of facilitating aging research in Sweden, promoting international collaboration, and enhancing the quality and impact of scientific research.

By strengthening aging research in Sweden, NEAR will ultimately help identify sustainable intervention strategies that can contribute to better health and care for older individuals. NEAR consists of 15 databases based on longitudinal cohort studies from various geographical areas in Sweden.

Your Role

NEAR is a groundbreaking infrastructure comprising 15 databases based on longitudinal cohort studies from different regions in Sweden, including over 100,000 individuals aged 50 and older. The primary focus of this position is to assist NEAR users with data cleaning, harmonization, and statistical support for research projects. The main tasks include:

  • Collaborating with research teams to provide statistical support in the design, implementation, and analysis of studies.
  • Cleaning, harmonizing, and consolidating data from various cohorts within NEAR to ensure comparability using standardized methods.
  • Managing, processing, and verifying large datasets for statistical modeling and analysis.
  • Supporting researchers by preparing cleaned datasets and contributing to the development of statistical models.
  • Participating in the preparation of written and oral presentations summarizing data analyses, interpreting results, and providing recommendations.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone with a relevant background and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, who is independent, proactive, and solution-oriented. You should also have good organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.

Requirements for Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Master's degree in statistics or biostatistics.
  • Work experience in data analysis, preferably within aging research.
  • Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SAS, Stata, SPSS, R, Python).
  • Documented programming experience with strong skills in R.
  • Experience in harmonizing data from multiple datasets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with researchers from diverse quantitative and clinical backgrounds.
  • Interest in professional development in statistics is an advantage.
